In a little less than 2 months, the 10th edition of the Africa Eco Race will start from the Principality of Monaco for 15 days of surprises, novelties, in the purest tradition of a marathon Rally! From December 31st to January 14th competitors will cross Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal before an exceptional finish at Lac Rose.
A sporting and human adventure that will test endurance and navigation skills.
Here we are, the last road book page of the 9th edition of the AFRICA ECO RACE® closes itself.
But just before that, and before starting to prepare the upcoming 10th anniversary, an enjoyable nice little flashback with shots of nice moments and values of the 2017 AFRICA ECO RACE® which took place between December 29th 2016 and January 14th 2017.
Jean Louis SCHLESSER and René METGE are currently in Africa for the traditional pre-race work meetings with the various local administrations. The rest of the AFRICA ECO RACE® crew is busy at the headquarters doing the finals touches. Everything is on track to make this 9th edition the most spectacular one yet, with an impressive lineup, a beautiful course, a crew eager than ever to assist all the teams and a media team that is getting stronger as the start approaches.
While in August, some are on holiday, others are at work. Within the AFRICA ECO RACE® team, the atmosphere is always at work in order to make this 9th edition, an adventure which will once again be memorable. Some prepare their bags, computers, cards, paper, pencils and vehicles before leaving in a few days for last recos in Africa in order to complete the course and finalize the road books. Others work hard to organize the start from the Principality of Monaco. Finally, the privileged ones, meet with beautiful persons, rather a beautiful one !
A flood … of good news!
Despite the bad weather of an unusual violence which struck Brussels on Tuesday June 7th in the early evening, blocking many guests to join us, the presentation of the AFRICA ECO RACE® 2017 in Belgium was a real success.
June 2nd, took place at the IN Café in Lisbon, the press conference of the 9th edition of the AFRICA ECO RACE®, which will take place between 29th of December 2016 and 14th of January 2017. The presentation was attended by the Directors of the Portuguese Federation of Automobile and Karting as well as the Motorcycle Federation of Portugal, pilots, navigators and various medias.

For us as service-team, the AER feels like going on a road-trip with the whole family ! Together we follow the ancient African trails. Together with the complete organization of the AER we give it all to bring our teams to the legendary Lac Rose !
Being true fans of the AER we enjoy the whole concept as you find in no other race, as one of our SSV pilots reminded me, there is only one real race to Dakar !
Wil THEUWS - Team Manager QFF Racing
I am glad that I was standing at the finish line of AER 22 in Dakar at the Pink Lake. It is the goal and dream of all racers who do cross-country races all over the world.

The AFRICA ECO RACE is a true human organisation, you really fell that you're a part of a global project with an open and very initimate feeling. So you sleep with very simple thoughts while you reach your goal: Dakar
Franco Acerbis - ACERBIS
The enthusiam and passion of the team as well as their constant research of bringing eco-responsable actions to their event, make the AFRICA ECO RACE one of the unmissable events of the Principality and we are proud to welcome them every year. We encourage everybody to buy a maximum of solar lamps provided by AMADE and AFRICA ECO RACE. More than a daily use, they will enable senegalese and mauritanian children to walk safely home after dark and will contribute to reducing the racing vehicules' carbon footprint.
Kate & Didier - STARS'N'BARS
It's a race with values , human values, eco-responsable values… A true and efficient aid for the Children of Africa and that is important !
