Tangier, departure city of the Africa Eco Race 2027

The 18th edition of the AFRICA ECO RACE will set off from the city of Tangier for the second consecutive year, confirming its anchoring in Morocco for its grand departure.
Gateway to Africa and a historic crossroads between two continents, Tangier once again establishes itself as the natural meeting point for this adventure. The city will host the rally caravan for technical and administrative checks, ahead of the Official Start of the race and a prologue on the municipal beach.
Competitors will then set off across Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal, over 12 stages, until arriving on the shores of the legendary Lac Rose, on 6 February 2027.
The festivities we want to fully experience

This period of technical checks, departure and prologue is essential: it sets the right tone for a rally-marathon like the AFRICA ECO RACE, and instills the spirit of the whole adventure right from the start.
Last year, extreme weather conditions prevented the prologue from taking place on Tangier's beach, as well as the official start from being held under the originally planned conditions.
For this edition, the city's authorities and the organisation are determined to give this symbolic stage its full significance: a prologue and a start worthy of this iconic event, to mark the launch of this 18th edition with even greater impact.

The original spirit, constantly reinvented
Since its creation, the AFRICA ECO RACE has never stopped reinventing itself, while staying true to the spirit of the original rally-raid.
This 18th edition's route also holds its share of surprises, with new tracks and unprecedented special stages.
Reconnaissance teams will hit the track starting in October to finalise the 2027 route, with details to be revealed soon.

An organisation dedicated to adventure

The AFRICA ECO RACE remains true to its founding values: a human, accessible rally, deeply rooted in the territories it crosses.
For this edition, the organisation continues to strengthen its logistics, its safety measures, and its extensive media coverage, which will both provide footage to competitors and allow the race to be followed on a daily basis.
Drivers, crews, enthusiasts, amateurs and professionals alike, the appointment is set: a new chapter is being written, and you can be part of it.
For any questions, the AFRICA ECO RACE team remains available at concurrents@africarace.com.
Registration: the first pricing period ends on 15 September 2026.
