A NIGHT START FROM MONACO ON THE 4th OF JANUARY 2020
After the technical and administrative checks in Menton on the 3rd and 4th of January 2020, the vehicles will be parked in the “Parc Fermé” located Quai Antoine 1er in Monaco.
On the evening of the 4th of January, all the competitors will be under Monaco spotlights whilst driving onto the podium for the start of the AFRICA ECO RACE 12th edition, under the applause of friends, family, sponsors and the yearly growing public!
Nothing better than a start under the star-filled sky of Monte-Carlo.
A dream for many who will be extending their new year’s celebrations!
NEW BOAT AND NEW CROSSING ON THE 5th OF JANUARY
Always focusing on security and minimum free transfer distance, the AFRICA ECO RACE caravan will leave the port of Savona at 9AM on the 5th of January 2020, in Italy, only 128 km from the start location. The ferry, from the shipping company GRIMALDI will arrive in Tanger on the 7th of January 2020 in the early morning.
For 2 days and 2 nights, the participants will be able to fill-up with energy, meet the different teams, discuss with the members of the organization, especially Jean-Louis SCHLESSER and René METGE… It will also be the opportunity to get familiar with the navigation equipment such as GPS/ERTF, attend the general briefing and get answers to all the questions you might have, should they be technical or sport oriented.
The 7th of January, as soon as driving off the boat, the serious stuff will begin for the competitors who will be racing near to 4.000km of special sector threw mind-blowing landscapes to finally join the “Lac Rose” on the 19th of January 2020.
NEW PORT, NEW STAGE ON THE 7th OF JANUARY 2020
All the caravan will disembark the ferry on the morning of the 7th of January 2020. The competitors will then begin the 1st stage which will be a necessary warm up.
This first short special sector through the forest, will be the opportunity to witness the difficulty of the rally in terms of navigation before going south-east to the first bivouac, set up for the first time near Goulmima. It will be a long first stage to avoid the low January temperatures.
BACK TO MYTHICAL TIDJIKDJA IN MAURITANIA
It was Jean-Louis SCHLESSER and René METGE’s wish to go back to Tidjikdja, the famous Mauritanian stage which stayed in the mind of all competitors and factories from the authentic Dakar. The organizers could tell you all about it!!
This year, dream will become reality, and the caravan of the AFRICA ECO RACE will be passing through Tidjikdja, historic city on the Tagant plateau. To fully appreciate the experience, the rally will set the bivouac there and race its only loop stage of the rally.
2 sandy stages with stunning panoramas. If the Mauritinian desert is filled with beauty, it is nonetheless tough and demanding. Competitors will have to be especially skilled and focused to overcome the many difficulties. Without a doubt, a stage that will seal the competitor’s fate.
Here is a good enough amount of excitement for our competitors who are eager to compete! But be reassured, many new tracks will be revealed.
