The 14th edition of the AFRICA ECO RACE 2022 has just ended with a festive finish on the shores of Lac Rose and everyone is already talking about the next edition on March 2023 !
THE AFRICA ECO RACE 2022 HAS ARRIVED IN DAKAR. As tradition dictates, the 14th edition of the AFRICA ECO RACE came to an end on Sunday 30 October 2022 at Lac Rose in Dakar, with the final photo under the finish arch of the entire organisation team.
THE FINAL STAGE WITHOUT SURPRISES ON THE AFRICA ECO RACE. During the briefing yesterday evening at the Ouad Naga bivouac, Manfred KROISS, the Sporting Director of the AFRICA ECO RACE 2022, had indicated that the final timed sector was complicated because the tracks were covered with vegetation, masking the traps of the track.
THE MOST DIFFICULT STAGE SINCE THE CREATION OF THE AFRICA ECO RACE
Whether on two or four wheels, those who will emerge from today's special stage, a 456 km loop around Ouad Naga, will undoubtedly be heroes. Indeed, it was by all accounts the most difficult stage since the creation of the AFRICA ECO RACE in 2009.
MAURITANIA STILL AS SELECTIVE ON THE AFRICA ECO RACE. Second special stage victory for Xavier FLICK in the motorbike category. Philippe GOSSELIN and Christophe CRESPO do not give up in cars.
THE AKJOUJT LOOP STILL AS DIFFICULT AS EVER ON THE AFRICA ECO RACE. For several editions of the AFRICA ECO RACE, the loop stage around the village of Akjoujt has been one of the rally's defining stages.
EARLY START FOR FIRST MAURITANIAN STAGE AFRICA ECO RACE. After the cancellation of the first special stage in Mauritania, everyone was eager to get started this morning at the start of this 7th stage between Chami and Akjoujt. The start this morning had been brought forward by 30 minutes so that the competitors could avoid driving in the high temperatures of the afternoon.
CANCELLATION OF THE FIRST MAURITANIAN SPECIAL ON THE AFRICA ECO RACE. It was 6.00 am this morning when Frenchman Xavier FLICK set off on the long 370 km liaison to the border between the Western Sahara part of Morocco and Mauritania. Close to the border between the two countries, a tent had been set up by the Moroccan authorities to provide a breakfast buffet worthy of the one in the Port of Nador. This was yet another demonstration of the extraordinary welcome that Morocco has given the AFRICA ECO RACE.
It was on the edge of the Dakhla lagoon, in the extreme south of Morocco, that the AFRICA ECO RACE caravan was set up on Sunday 23 October. After a gloomy morning, the sun appeared in the early afternoon to brighten up this well-deserved rest day after an intense week in Morocco.
THE AFRICA ECO RACE IS HEADING SOUTH ! Once again, the first motorcycles have crossed the finish line near the bivouac of Remz El Kebir at the time planned by Manfred KROISS, the sports director of the AFRICA ECO RACE. An arrival more grouped than the first days with smaller gaps. The proof that the competitors are taking their marks and becoming more and more efficient, with also a less technical course of the day and an easier navigation.
Competition and sharing define the spirit of the Africa Eco Race

For us as service-team, the AER feels like going on a road-trip with the whole family ! Together we follow the ancient African trails. Together with the complete organization of the AER we give it all to bring our teams to the legendary Lac Rose !
Being true fans of the AER we enjoy the whole concept as you find in no other race, as one of our SSV pilots reminded me, there is only one real race to Dakar !
Wil THEUWS - Team Manager QFF Racing

I am glad that I was standing at the finish line of AER 22 in Dakar at the Pink Lake. It is the goal and dream of all racers who do cross-country races all over the world.

It is always a pleasure for the population of Menton to witness the arrival of all these vehicles: trucks, cars, buggies, motorbikes… It is also all about the human and convivial aspect of this race which races through the city of Menton.
Fabrice PINET - Ville de Menton
Solidarity and unity, the AFRICA ECO RACE is a rally at the origin of our values and this must remains...
We congratulate AFRICA ECO RACE for their support AMADE and enabling Mauritanian and Senegalese students to have access to solar lamps. A child with light at home, is a child able to do his homework when night comes.
The enthusiam and passion of the team as well as their constant research of bringing eco-responsable actions to their event, make the AFRICA ECO RACE one of the unmissable events of the Principality and we are proud to welcome them every year. We encourage everybody to buy a maximum of solar lamps provided by AMADE and AFRICA ECO RACE. More than a daily use, they will enable senegalese and mauritanian children to walk safely home after dark and will contribute to reducing the racing vehicules' carbon footprint.
